You've met the team. Now find out what they can actually do. In the first full Smile Squad adventure, Max, Ruby and Kit each step forward to reveal their superpower — and why every child who walks through our doors already has a hero on their side.

Every hero needs an origin story. Last time, we gave you three names — Max, Ruby and Kit — and a promise: that looking after little teeth could feel less like a chore and more like an adventure.

This time, they show you what they can do.

Press play above for the full episode, then meet each of them properly below.

    Meet the heroes

    🦷 Max — Shield Power

Max works in blue, and Max works on defence.

Picture him planted in front of a whole army of cavity bugs, cape out, fists up, not moving an inch. "My job is protecting your teeth with Shield Power." And nothing gets past the shield.

For a child, that's a much easier idea to hold onto than "plaque" or "decay". Brushing stops being a rule someone else made up and becomes something closer to putting your armour on — twice a day, morning and night, so the bugs never get a look in.

What Max is really teaching: brush twice a day, and the bugs don't stand a chance.

🦷 Ruby — the brave one

Ruby wears red, and Ruby has the job that matters most on the days that are hardest.

She sits with the child who's gone quiet in the chair, the one with their hands knotted together and their eyes fixed on the door. "My job is helping you feel brave." And then she tells them the thing we wish every child knew:

    > Brave doesn't mean you're not scared.

That's the whole heart of the episode, and it's not just a line for children. Plenty of grown-ups need to hear it too. Being brave has never meant feeling nothing — it means the wobble is allowed, and you're still here, still in the chair, still doing the thing. Ruby's power isn't making fear disappear. It's making it okay.

What Ruby is really teaching: you're allowed to feel nervous. You're still being brave.

    🦷 Kit — Spark Vision

Kit is in gold, and Kit doesn't miss a thing.

"I spy, with my Spark Vision." Behind that gold mask, Kit finds the bits everyone else skips — the sugar hiding in a "healthy" snack, the back teeth that never quite get reached, the brush that stopped at forty seconds instead of two minutes.

It's a game, and that's deliberate. A child who's hunting for the spots they missed is a child brushing properly without ever being nagged into it.

What Kit is really teaching: the bits you can't see are the bits worth looking for.

    Three heroes, one glowing shield

Max protects. Ruby steadies. Kit spots what's hiding.

And at the end of the episode, they do the thing every good team does — they stand together, and the three of them become one glowing shield. That's the idea we'd love your little one to carry out of the film and into the bathroom tonight:

    Every smile has a hero.

Sometimes that hero is Max, on a night when nobody can face the toothbrush. Sometimes it's Ruby, on the morning of a first-ever appointment. Sometimes it's Kit, turning a boring two minutes into a hunt.

And sometimes — most of the time, honestly — it's you, standing at the sink at half past seven, doing it all over again.

The real hero behind the Squad

The Smile Squad is animated. Their leader isn't.

Dr Natasha Davé, our paediatric dentist, is the human heart of this team. She has built her career around children — the confident ones, and especially the nervous ones. Her experience spans Birmingham Dental Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital, and she has spent over a decade providing gentle inhalation sedation for anxious young patients.

Her approach is the reason Ruby's line lands the way it does. Nothing happens until a child feels genuinely heard. The wobble is allowed. Then, together, you get on with it.

Healthy habits. Happy smiles. For life.

Here's why we make films about superhero teeth instead of handing out another leaflet.

How a child feels about the dentist in their earliest visits tends to be how they feel about it for the rest of their life. A child who grows up thinking of a check-up as the day they get to see Max, Ruby and Kit is a child who becomes an adult who books their appointments without thinking twice about it.

That's the whole plan. Prevent. Protect. Reward.

    Come and meet them

The Squad can't wait to meet your little one — and neither can we.

Whether it's a first-ever visit or a routine check-up, we'll make it a happy one. Ready when you are? Here are three ways to start, whichever suits you:

    • Book online, right now — book your child's appointment in a couple of taps.
    • Message us on WhatsApp — 07512 582 750. Send a photo if you like; it's often the quickest way to get a straight answer.
    • Or simply call — 0121 354 7570.

First visits are short, gentle and usually involve nothing more than a look, a count of the teeth, and a sticker on the way out.

See you next time, for the next Smile Adventure.

    Smile Squad, assemble! 🦷✨
